Terms of Service
The rules governing your use of GovCodex and our services.
Effective Date: February 7, 2024
Last Updated: August 24, 2026
Welcome to GovCodex.com. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"), including any features involving Google Single Sign-On (OAuth) or other identity providers.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to abide by these Terms.
1. Who We Are
GovCodex, LLC ("GovCodex," "we," "us," or "our") operates GovCodex.com. We deliver technical content, authentication services, and developer tools, subject to these Terms.
2. Account Creation and Authentication
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). If younger, a parent or legal guardian must create your account.
Account Integrity
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. Accounts are personal; you must not share credentials. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
Google Sign-On (OAuth)
You may choose to sign in via Google or another identity provider. Use of this feature is governed by Google's OAuth policies and requires your explicit consent. We only request essential data (e.g., name, email, profile photo) and use it strictly for authentication and Service provision.
3. Permitted Use
Allowed Use
As long as you comply with these Terms, you may use the Service for lawful and authorized purposes.
Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- Violate any law or infringe on third-party rights.
- Access, modify, or distribute the Service's software, models, or systems in unauthorized ways.
- Reverse engineer the Service.
- Use automated processes to scrape or extract content.
4. Intellectual Property
GovCodex and its licensors retain all rights, titles, and interest in the Service, content, software, logos, and trademarks. You receive no ownership rights other than the limited license to use the Service under these Terms.
Models and Files You Upload
You may upload your own 3D building models and other files to a project. You keep whatever rights you already hold in them, and you grant GovCodex only the limited licence needed to store, process, and display them back to you inside your own project.
You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload. When you upload a 3D model you confirm that you hold that right and that the model is not derived from Google Maps, Google Earth, or Street View imagery. GovCodex cannot verify who authored a model or what it depicts, and does not do so. Our automated checks on an uploaded model establish only that the file is a readable, self-contained glTF binary within our size and complexity limits, and that its dimensions cover the footprint and height recorded for the structure it is attached to. They are not a review of the design, its accuracy, its buildability, or its ownership, and an accepted model is not an endorsement of any of those things. We may refuse or remove an uploaded model at any time.
Uploaded models are stored privately to your project, subject to storage limits, and are retained as an immutable revision history so that the file and the confirmation you gave with it remain on the record. Removing a model from your project stops it being displayed; it does not erase that history.
5. Data Access and Usage Standards
Scope of Data Collected via SSO
We only access data you authorize via OAuth—name, email, profile image—and use it only to authenticate and personalize your experience.
Compliance with Google Policies
Our integration complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including clear UI disclosures, limited data requests, and user consent procedures.
Policy Access
We provide transparent links to this Terms page and our Privacy Policy in all relevant areas (e.g., OAuth consent screens, site footer).
6. Content and Interactions
You control the content you submit via the Service. You retain ownership of any data ("Input") you upload or generate ("Output"). GovCodex has no rights to use your content beyond providing the Service.
7. Updates, Modification, and Termination
We may update features or the Terms at any time. If changes materially affect users, we will notify you and require acknowledgment. Continued use confirms your acceptance.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or abuse the Service. If you wish to close your account, contact info@govcodex.com.
8. Zoning Analysis, Spatial Data, and Shared Links
Informational Output, Not Professional Advice
The Service produces automated zoning, land-use, and permitting analysis for informational and planning purposes only. That output is not a permit, an approval, a zoning determination, a code interpretation, a legal opinion, or the practice of engineering, surveying, architecture, or any other licensed profession. The municipality, county, or other agency having jurisdiction over a property is the sole authority on zoning interpretation, permit requirements, and the approval of any work. Nothing produced by the Service authorizes construction.
Spatial Data
Parcel boundaries, zoning district geometry, elevation, and related spatial data are derived from third-party public sources, including county and state geographic information systems and federal datasets. Those sources are provided to us, and are made available to you, "as is" and with all faults. They carry the positional accuracy, currency, completeness, and limitations of the originating source, which we do not independently verify and cannot warrant.
No map, drawing, measurement, distance, area, or setback figure produced by the Service is a boundary survey, and none may be substituted for one. All such figures are approximate and must not be relied upon for construction staking, boundary determination, legal description, conveyance, encroachment analysis, or the placement of improvements. A land surveyor licensed in the applicable jurisdiction is the only authority on the location of a property boundary. You should obtain a survey before acting on any dimension shown by the Service.
Automated Output May Be Incomplete or Incorrect
Output is generated by automated systems, including machine learning models, working over data of varying age and quality. It may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect, and it may omit rules, overlays, or requirements that apply to a property. You are responsible for reviewing and independently verifying any output with the authority having jurisdiction, and with your own qualified professionals, before relying on it or acting on it.
Where the Service suggests an alternative to a project — a different size, orientation, or location, and any margin or clearance stated for it — that suggestion is illustrative. It is measured against the constraints and boundaries the Service has modelled, which are derived from public data and are not a survey, and it is not an approval, a determination, or a representation that the alternative will be permitted.
Shared Project Links
The Service allows a project owner to publish a read-only share link for a project. A shared page is a snapshot: it reflects the project data as of the time the page is loaded, it is not maintained or updated for any recipient, and it is not a submission to, or a filing with, any agency. Anyone who has the link can view the page, so the link should be treated as public. The project owner controls what a shared page contains and may revoke the link at any time, after which it will no longer resolve.
No Affiliation with Government
GovCodex is an independent software product. We are not a government entity, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting on behalf of any municipality, county, state, or other government agency. References to a jurisdiction, its ordinances, or its forms are for identification and citation only.
9. Disclaimers and Limitations
No Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without any express or implied warranties. GovCodex disclaims warranties such as merchantability, fitness for purpose, or non-infringement.
Automated Outputs and Exported Files
GovCodex outputs are generated automatically and derived from third-party public records, geographic information systems, and information you supply. They are planning aids. They are not a survey, a construction document, an engineering or architectural certification, a permit, an approval, or a determination by any municipality, and no professional relationship arises from your use of them.
This applies equally to files you export from the Service, including three-dimensional building models. An exported model is a conceptual depiction compiled from the dimensions you stated and from public cadastral geometry; it does not establish property boundaries, elevations, structural adequacy, or code compliance, and its accuracy is limited by the accuracy of those underlying records. Verify any measurement, boundary, or requirement with the authority having jurisdiction and with a licensed professional before relying on it to build, to purchase, or to submit an application.
Liability Cap
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid in the prior 12 months, if any.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Wisconsin.
Arbitration
Any dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM). You agree to attempt informal resolution before initiating arbitration.
11. Your Rights
You may:
- Request access to your account information.
- Request correction or deletion of personal data.
- Object or restrict processing of your data.
Submit requests via info@govcodex.com
