How permitting works in New Berlin
Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code (SPS 320–325) applies statewide to 1- & 2-family dwellings; municipalities (or their contracted UDC inspectors) administer it locally. Commercial buildings follow SPS 361–366 with DSPS or delegated plan review. Zoning, fences, signs, and right-of-way work are regulated by local ordinance; shoreland/floodplain standards flow from NR 115/116 via county and municipal ordinances.

Building Permit Application
Verified official formOfficial City of New Berlin building permit application (Department of Community Development, Inspection Services Division, 3805 S. Casper Drive, New Berlin, WI 53151; 262-797-2445). Per the form, residential permits take ten working days to clear the system, and any DISAPPROVED permit stops the process until new information is received — at which point the ten working days start over. The application is routed internally through Planning/Zoning, Engineering, Inspection, Storm, and Fire review. GovCodex output is a planning aid, not permit approval.
